: What are some good courses in high school to prepare to Physical Therapy courses in College?
Hi there,
I am a Junior in High School right now, and i’m really interested in going in to Physical Therapy when I get to college.
We are going to be signing up for our classes soon this spring, and entering my Senior year I want to know what I should be taking…
I am currently in AP Chemistry, Honors Spanish 3, Honors Pre Calculus, Food Prep 2, AP American History, and Honors English 11.
(alot of Honors classes, kind of a mistake this year… homework wise)
Next year if I continue the AP science route, I’d be moving along to AP Physics. A lot of people talk about how difficult this class is, and that makes me worry a bit. If I do not take AP Physics, I would have to take 1 semester of basic physics and one semester of earth systems. I was planning on not taking a math next year if I take AP Physics. If I do not take AP Physics I would take AP Stats and the 2 science classes.
The Science/Math area is where Im most confused in. So let me know what route I should take.
Next year I will also have 1 Semester of Fitness and Wellness, and 1 Semester of an Honors Health course. Those would probably look good. But, should I also take a semester of Psychology or Peer Counseling? The options seem to be endless.
Please, anyone, let me know your opinions on what is the best course to go when looking for a Physical Therapy career.
Thank you!
(sorry for the long message… )

If you need a 4-year college degree, everyone needs to take basic core curriculum courses like English, Biology, Math…
So if you’re weak or struggling in any of these areas now, my advice would be to “beef up” in high school so that you’re prepared. Don’t be such that you’re taking remedial courses in college.
Another option would be to take some kind of “summer camp”. For example, if you’re struggling in Foreign Languages, take a summer immersion course just for the heck of it so that you’re a little more ready for college. It will look cool on your resume when you apply for college, too.
What do you think? Answer below!

In college, you will be required to take one year of gen bio, gen chem, gen physics, A and P as well as math through calc, stats, and psy.
Your AP credits will not be accepted as pre reqs for grad school for PT so you will need to take them over. I would take physics not AP physics. I would take as many classes as you can in math and science.
